    window tint laws changed? 2006

    Have window tinting laws changed?

I've seen more and more cars now that have window tinting applied on the FRONT for both DRIVERS and PASSENGER side windows

Variations of tints would be 20% , 45% and some limo dark tint.

Also big car dealerships like Carter Dodge across from Brentwood Mall in Burnaby some cars in their used car/ new car lots have their windows tinted.

And 1/2 of Budget rent a car at the Vancouver Airport and Burrard st, as well as Enterprise rental cars have some variation of tint.

No, the laws are still the same.

The increase in sightings is probably due to a lack of enforcement due to unstaffed positions.

tint laws have not changed for a fact, I know and the 400 dollars missing out of my pocket is a good indication. best part about getting that ticket was watching my moms who i just picked up from work yell at the cop. and the funny part was it was like 50% tint and i peeled it off in 10 secs. worst part is my skin gets ichy in the sun so i got even darker. It also suck cause in the states there allowed the front windows to be tinted within reason.

There are so many vehicles on the road that you cant even see into, i really would like to tint my window's in reason because of the bright sun, like just 30% im just worried about getting pulled over for it, you would be able to see clear in and all. But rules are rules, it's rediculous when you have 5% all around tho.
What ever happend to the rule that if you could read the peice of paper behind the tint you were fine? or is that a myth?

I've had a fairly dark tint on my front windows for 6 years and have been pulled over 3 times and nothing said about them

Never been a union man in my life. In fact, it is specifically prohibited by the RCMP Act! However, it is a valid observation based on the circumstances. Traffic sections tend to be among the first to be cannibalized when General Duty is short staffed, and BC is seriously understaffed right now.

Does this tint law only apply to someone who add's Tinting film to their windows ? What about actual tinted safety glass in the side windows. I swear i have seen this right from factory.

My understanding is that if it came from the factory tinted you are good to go.

And of course all vehicle manufacturers comply to the letter with the MVA and MVRegs.

Yeah.. except that the d***heads actually WILL give you a ticket for having NO DOORS about 1% of the time. I have gone through numerous roadblocks with no doors, and I've been pulled over in both my Jeep, and in my Samurai when I still had it, probably close to 100 times with no doors on both.. and never had a cop say anything about it, until I went through a seatbelt check in Surrey last summer (hottest day of the summer of course) and as soon as the cop had me on the side of the freeway onramp he'd written me up a ticket. All I want is a little consistancy, and for the record, I'm still not putting my doors on.. just out of principal.

The window tint thing sounds kind of the same.. most of the time they'll just tell you to take it out.. or give you a V.I. if they're in a really bad mood.
