Or some regional district sites have very good mapping in the Valley bottoms The maps tend to come in pdf (Adobe Acrobat format). They are usually right up to date.
Surveyed lots, of course may or may not be private. If you are looking at specific lots then a search of ownership can be done at BC Online (for a fee, this being the government and all).
The vast majority of unsurveyed land in the interior is crown, other than the odd licence of occupation for cabins and lodges.
The old 1:50,000 federal maps had surveyed lots on.

The best advice if you are looking for wheeling places is get at least half an hour of the pavement and clear of towns and you'll likely be on Crown land.
