    Cutting and re-welding wheel centers.

    Anyone done this?
I am thinking of cutting the welds on my wheels and moving the centers in for an inch or so more backspacing.
I haven't found any Canadian wheel vendors for custom wheels so this may be my only choice to get the wheel I want.

I own a Long Box(missing),extra cab, Diesel turboed,,5.29,locked front rear, on board air,35 bfg. Built from ground up. 88 frame,83 cab 2wd,flat deck on its way with a exo cage and dual T-case. Truck is lifted enough to fit 35's but isnít high. Iím looking at a new set up of shocks that hold the truck up and no need of coils or leaf.

Did you use a lathe to cut the centers out of just grind out the welds?

Green's Automotive recentered a set of rims for me. Price was reasonable and the work was excellent. Turned them on a lathe and rewelded using a dedicated machine.

I got a quote from a local dealer. He wants 60 bucks a rim to cut and re-weld to the spacing I want. No paint included.
New rims with custom 2 inch bs out of the states are $56 U.S plus a billion dollars shipping.

Sounds a whole lot cheaper to get them re-centered huh?
