What to do?/Running a stop sign.

What do you do if you come to a stop sign but on the same sign post is a "Maximum 50kph" sign? I generally take it as a "slow to 50 and blow the intersection." If I was seen by a cop and ticketed would a Judge likely throw the ticket out?

I'm not even a police officer but I'd want to give you a ticket

I've seen some goofy signs. It's not impossible.

If you think about it, the 50 sign sets the speed. The stop sign still means stop. They just chose to save tax dollars by putting both on one post!

I really don't think that any traffic court JP would have difficulty with the conviction.

I'd blow that sign doing 50, looks like you can see well enough.

Looks like more of a yield sign than a stop sign to me.

The speed limit posting is for the road that has the right of way, the stop is for you before you proceed onto the main road. Silly spot for the speed sign but it seems pretty obvious to me what to do. It's the Young Drivers Of Canada training (7 years ago)speaking here.

I still don't see how having a speed limit on a stop sign means "don't actually stop". If they wanted to say that...then they wouldn't have a stop sign. I have never seen a stop sign that you weren't supposed to stop at.

If they wanted you to slow down to 50/yield to the other traffic, they would've put a yield sign there...
