    Steering hang ups.

I went up a logging road day before yesterday with a ton of those dug outs. Only this time the backhoe operator had left huge piles of gravel and mud in front of them so I had to climb these things in my stock 85 Nissan 4x4 pickup and high-centered quite few times and heard a few loud Bangs under there.

On the way home yesterday the steering suddenly locked up and I couldn't figure out why. I managed to pull over, at least I was off the freeway, and I noticed the inside of the wheel well had shifted over just enough to rub against the steering wheel flange and it was stopping me from making full turns of the wheel.

What shifted? The steering mechanism, the body of the truck or the frame? And why didn't it do until nearly 200 km later?

    hangup

I bent the offending metal out of the way and just drove 1100 kms incident free so I hope it's fixed.

The inside fender panel had rusted away from its mounting brackest and shifted over.
