this looks nothing like a unimog it makes me sick to think that i could be driving a ford copy its bad enough i used to own a bronco now this?!?!? gross! but if you say the oonimog is based on this thing riddle me this does it have torque tubes or drive shafts? coil springs? frame flex? lockers? 82 HP?!?!?!
on a side note though that truck looks to be the most badass thing ford has ever made are you sure they made it badass really isnt there style![]()
In the past: 5 toyota and 2 unimogs gone
In the now: 1983 Landcruiser BJ60 and 88 FJ62
Baaaahahahahah! Too funny1Oh, oh, oh, look at me, it looks like a Mog but it's really a Ford.
I could go on all night.......
That does look a little hard core for a Ford although they have made a few decent vehicles back in the day before they started coming out with escapes and topazes and tauruses and crappy concept vehicles.on a side note though that truck looks to be the most badass thing ford has ever made are you sure they made it badass really isnt there style![]()
Comparing a Unimog to a Bronco is ridiculous. First of all the differences in the GVW alone puts them in two different classes all together. Obviously the Mog is built stronger and therefor better for heavy duty applications.
The germans had cutting edge technology at the time when they designed and built there vehicles for WWII. Look at the helmets worn by there troops, they provided full head protection because they figured out they could generate an equal wall thickness by bending the shell in multiple stages. Referred to now as progressive tooling. The Allies had helmets that provided minimal protection because they were stamping and forming in one shot and couldn't maintain the wall thickness with this antiquated method. They truly thought outside the box.
If we compare the advancements that were designed into the Mogs, torque tubes, lockers, coil springs, etc... vs that of the Ford F15 Folsten the Mog is better by far. They were designed and built during the same era so to say that the mog was designed after the Ford is stupid.
The difference during the war is that the german manufacturing couldn't build enough equipment fast enough, unlike the allies that had there manufacturing in North America outside the war zones and could be build the simpler designs faster and more efficiently. The Panzer tanks were incredible and drove fear into the allies driving Shermans. Once again there was strength in numbers, the allies produced the shermans in huge numbers and could rally 50 tanks against the germans 10.
How many times has the BAJA 1000 been won by a Mog over the rest of the field of competitors?
I have broncosis
Finally got my pics on my comp. Here are a couple.

so whats the final condition of the lake? still good? or is it screwed for a while?
I believe mike and matt were the last guys to go up there. They will know. I think with all the rain we`ve had the impact of oil and gas is probably zero to none now.
LR or Beast fill us in.
We didn't go up last weekend. Basically, with everything the experts have said nature's gotta do its thing now. The oil pads are only designed for heavy amounts and won't do much at all for the film on the lake. From what I understand, the only thing that will remove the film is laundry detergent or caustics, which obviously no one is going to put into the lake.
By the time I got everything packed and we got out of the house (has guests over and other chores to do) it was getting late, so we went up Sumas Mtn instead and sat on a rock cut overlooking the city and drank beer all weekend. 15 min from home and it only cost $10 in gas total, a bazillion in beerand got some good pics of the view to boot. Here's a couple of the pics I did get though. I was playing around with the custom settings and tried a couple on 15 sec exposure, which the one of Mike passed out at the fire being my favorite. I was somewhat surprised how much light they'll take in, the last pic was taken under the full moon at 1 am, 15 sec and not quite full exposure. I have a couple of full-on settings that look like daylight. LR
