Try the Wildfire site: www.for.gov.bc.ca/pScripts/Protect/WildfireNews/index.asp
Princeton is in the Kamloops District.
Tulameen is smokey, we're heading up to the cabin Friday for opening of hunting season. Son lives in Princeton, says its real smokey and lots of ash falling.
Travel on the Hope Princeton is not recommended due to smoke - daughter came back from Tulameen Saturday and had to turn the headlights on. If its real bad tomorrow we'll go in via the Coquihalla.
Hope to catch some rainbows and kokanee - won't need the smoker, just air dry 'em !
:p

For some reason the web site didn't come out right in my message - should be: /Protect/WildfireNews/

Just got off the phone with my kid. Says Princeton is not too bad this AM, less smoke than yesterday. All depends on the wind direction I guess.
The BC Road Reports site has a web cam in Manning, East of Allison pass and not too much haze to be seen. Same on the Coq. cams.

Well, the kid and the news reports all say that the situation has improved as the winds are from the North, blowing the smoke back into the US where it belongs.
We'll be taking the Hope Princeton.
With all the ash in the air in Tulameen I might not be able to refinish the deck, just might have to fish and hunt instead. :D

I'm sure they're hard at work to get it under control, unlike these Kodak moment loving slackers at the Nechako fire!

*quietly -doesn't- point out that he made a comment many moons ago about the potential of incredible damage from forest fires this year*

*can't resist*

I hate to say I told you so, but ....

Yeah, I came down Friday from Grand Forks and from Princeton to Manning East Gate with the recirc and A/C on it was still like sitting in front of a camp fire with the smoke blowing in your face. I was starting to complain to myself about how bad it was then a couple of guys passed me on motorcycles.. That shut me up in a hurry!!! Poor bastards.

Once you hit Headley (Bromley Rock to be specific) its fine, but from East Gate to Headley its the worst. If I didn't have to go back up there again, I wouldn't for the sake of my lungs... (Mind you, its probably not as bad as sucking in diesel exhaust all day..) LR
