Why oh why do people on this message board(And every other) not post where they are from? Are you trying to be secretive? Don't ask me where the best place to get work done on your toyota is and have your location say"Over here" or left blank. Why do you do this? BC is a very diversified province, if I am posting back and fourth with someone I like to know if they are from bella coola or Surrey.

This anyone else's pet peeve? Any logical reason for doing this?

BC is a very diversified province,A freakishly big too.

BC is two and a half times the size of Japan, and four times the size of Great Britain and all of Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland combined would fit into British Columbia. California, Oregon and Washington could fit into British Columbia and still have enough room for Tennessee; the only American state larger that BC is Alaska.

Califonia has more people in it than all of Canada.... I think it's just a little crowded down there....

Because not posting my location in combination with always wearing my tinfoil helmet keeps my location a secret from the men in white coats that are always after me.

Any more good questions?

Where abouts in Kelowna are you?

Some of us live in smaller communities and dont want to advertize where we park our rigs, so they can be stolen by some random internet brousing yahoo just for a joyride and get burned...
Some of us have rigs that we spent YEARS buiding, are one of a kind and cannot be simply re-bougth. ICBC will pay d!ck all for them so secrecy is the best countermeasure...
Tough if you don't like it.

If I make my location "lower mainland", that's close enough for anyone to have to know.

Maybe they're all Gypsies!
You often read police reports about people "of no fixed address."

But hey, yeah: if you're selling something a little note in the ad like "located in Abbotsford area" would be a nice clue. I'm not driving to Powell River to get a $200 junker.

That's about the dumbest thing I have heard for a while. Lower mainlaind is not the same as Kelowna, not the same as princeton.

Dumb?
256 W4th would be a location but you have Kitsilano?
or
Kitsilano would be a location but you have Vancouver?
or
Vancouver would be a location but you have lower mainland?

or as you put it:

Lower mainland would be a location, but you have BC?
or
BC is a location, but you have Canada?
or...
or...
or...
or, Pluto isn't a location?

WTF dude?

Get your jizz straigth and penties de-knoted before you call someone dumb!

You wanted an explenation, you got it! Now you don't like the explenation so you call it dumb.

What is so dumb about privacy?

How's about I give you my home address and then I will leave some milk and cookies out when you come to rip me off.

I think keeping that info. private has more to do with theft and lurkers gathering info....not trying to be the ellusive Yetti.

Another example is how I still call the people I know or have met by the name they have registered on the board.
I let them choose to use thier own name if they want.
It's not up to me to give out peoples names on an internet chat board that the entire world has access to.

Now google Rabbitsturd, and come find me. :D

I ran the idea by lars about making people post location and price of every item which is for sale..... He felt it was not the big of a problem

I'm not saying people should have to post their location, just commented I thought it was a little weird when they don't Especially when they are asking where to get tires repaired. I aint fighting about it. Really just wanted to hear from them why they do it. Just making conversation.

Kinda thought I was trying to be friendly.

Meh, I think you're parinoid too. You're more likey to lose your truck to some punk wandering around your nieghborhood looking for something to steal than someone cruising around on here. Most communities are fairly large and almost everyone around the valley has an SUV in their driveway so your custom rig means almost nothing in particular to them.

That being said, its a free country and a free board, everyone has the right to put down whatever they want (within reason). LR
