Ok I now have a GPS with mapping ability (no card or reader yet) and have down loaded GPS babel and trial version on Ozie so how do I get maps onto my computer? I do not have a scanner and I am not sure that would be a good way to go anyway. Is there any sources for downloadable maps of BC? I will buy the Canada map for my GPS in the new year along with the card and reader but for now would like to experiment and learn the technology.

Depending on what type of GPS you have and the mapinfo it reads, bearshare, kazaa and such may have some maps you can check out before buying the one you like and will eventually use all the time. I think these file share programs are great for that at very least, to try out the various maps and their interfaces before you spend the hundreds for the one you really want.; :p
