Yes a Toyota SFA will directly swap in but you will have to do some welding. A support would need to be welded across the front of the frame which serves as a stifiner and front spring mount for the leaf spring packs. The rear of the leaves will be mounted about where the the tortion bar mounts should be and an aditional cross member can also be added at that point. Other than that it is a prity easy swap. The frame rails of the Toyota is the same distance apart as the Nissan so prity much everything lines up and works.

I think the only prob with that is the Toy axle is passenger side drop while the Nissan needs a drivers side drop for the T-case. People have done it with Toy axles, they just use a divorced T-case. Requires more fab work and time.

The other popular diff is D44's from '80's Grand Waggys. (non vacumn disconnect) They are drivers side drop, discs, and like the Toy diffs, 6 bolt pattern. As batty53ca said, cross members will have to be modified, new braces etc. depending on how much lift you go with. Either go with leafs or use the Ford radious arms and coils (unless you want to fab up your own links)

With the D44 to keep costs down, you can use the existing tie rod and just do crossover steering (not high crossover) using flattop knuckles and having a new drag link made up.

Batty53ca, sounds like you've done the swap? :) :welder

I went with the Early Bronco Running gear ( 1970 1977 best years ) . it's the right width and lots of after market stuff for it. Dana 44 front and ford 9" rear. I have front coils which is more work but i enjoy the perks. it also has rear leafs so much easier than that stupid 5 link pathfinder rear end. If you need any more help just drop a line.:D

That toyota conversion that batty is talking about sounds so difficult and time consuming. I have never heard of that in my life. the axle that clenchedtuna used i have heard of people using. plus i have seen his truck and it looks great.

So remember when looking for an axle for your truck
Toy axle( BOO  ) DANA 44 ( COOL  )
