I went to check fluid levels today and found ATF in the transfer case of my 89 crew cab chev. The T case is behind an automatic but this strikes me as wrong.
help me out here

I am pretty sure T5's from mustangs and stuff also take ATF...so ATF in something other than an automatic is not that surprising.

Yeah, I was under the impression that most x-cases behind auto transmissions also took ATF.

Doent matter if its an auto if its aluminum it runs ATF. My tranny runs ATF and its a 5 speed as well as my t-case too.

I think chain drive cases generally run ATF.

generally that is the rule.

I take atf, its pretty sick sh*t, but yea like the guys said if its alluminum or chain itll b atf
