your gas pedal/mechanism isn't touching the power wire as it passed through the firewall? Maybe you have a loose conenction that the throttle is pressing to make a better connection? Or is it when the enigne RPMs are lower? You might have a problem with your charging system and the amp is cutting out due to low voltage.

It could also be your ground wire, i had the same problem. try moving your ground to a different spot.

It sounds like you are driving the sub into clipping.

Amps clip, not speakers...and those are very different symptoms.
If you can see your amp, check if the light's on when it cuts out...if its the amp losing power that's one thing, if the speaker wires inside the sub box aren't well connected that's a totally different issue.
Check all your wiring for ground and +12V...try wiggling them all one-by-one while its running and see if you can make it cut again. I'm sure it's either a bad ground or a loose +12V somewhere...possibly a crappy fuse holder?
And please tell me you don't have any wires passing through the firewall where the throttle cable is...

Same thing happened to me. The rockford that was [powering my 10's kept cutting out, turned out to be my alt, while i was on the gas it was making enough power to have everything work well, when i let off it wouldnt... try turning your stereo down and see if it cuts out even when your not drawing alotof current. you might also go with a larger gauge power cable to your amp. and check you whole charging/electrical system... :soso

have to agree with many of the suggestions. gonna have to re-inforce the suggestion to check ground wires, especially the one from your block to the firewall, and the ground from your battery to the front fender. might need to have the corosion cleaned off em, or they could be loose.
also, have you been going through headlight bulbs and fuses over the last little while?

lord-wold seems to make the most sence to me. i dont see how having ur foot on the gas is gonna effect ur ground whire. if u have a charger charge ur battery up over ngiht and then try ur subs with ur car off see if they go or not.

I had the same problem with a phoenix gold amp. It would go into safety mode everytime I hit the brake pedal and therefore make my subs cut out. I watched the voltage with my multi-meter and found that I was hitting around 10.8 volts when I hit the brakes which was too low to run this particular amp. I traded it for another phoenix gold amp that wasn't as fussy with low voltage.
