okay i am looking for a runner and most that i see are standard and i really don't want a standard truck, so my question to you is what is involved in changing the trany to an automatic, how much work is this and how expensive??????

in my oppinion you'd be better off finding an auto truck... the ect (electronic controlled trannys) use the computer a fair bit and the electronic components would be a huge hassle. ie the lock up torque converter solenoid etc.... would be alot of work

when I was 16 I changed a tercel my dad gave me to standard from auto. It was a lot of work. But as far as going from standard to auto it would be way easier. If you really wanted you could just leave the pedal assembly alone and disconnect the clutch. Just grab a tranny from a wrecker and the shift column and you can go. You know theres like 4 auto 86-89 4runners in the buy and sell right now.

Autos and 4clys suck ass.
