i hit a washout too fast, truck was airborn with some hang time, landed hard, broke the knuckle around the upper ball joint. after this happened i was actually able to turn the truck around and drive it back about 20km to 20 mile bay where we spent about 5 hours burning drift wood while waiting for my f350 and car trailer to show up.

does anyone know what year of knuckle is interchangeble with my '04 with abs? will 4runner parts work?

He is right, Those knuckles are really common to break or crack around there. I have seen two of them cracked with minimal abuse. I think Total chaos makes a weld on gusset kits of beef them up. Might be worth while while you have it apart

do you guys have any stock spindles and cv shafts kicking around? i need the passenger side diff mount bracket that bolts to the crossmember and diff drop kit bolts (the longer than stock bolts)

after pulling it apart today it looks like the part around the balljoint was cracked from behind for quite a while. the cast iron was dirty and rusty at that break.

God only knows there are enough broken Toyotas out there that the parts will be plentifull.

surprisingly enough, i'm having a hard time finding parts locally. a couple of years ago alpi's had a dozen tacomas, now they have two that have already been picked clean.

i took the truck back up to the spot yesterday and found my missing trim piece that popped out of the grill :beer it wasn't even run over or anything

it looks like i'm not the only one that hit that one like that. there are a few broken pieces of plastic around there.

it's just north of 54 km, closer to 55 km. it's not huge but it's close to the the top of a hill at a point where you barely notice it until you've started going down the hill.... then you are suddenly air born.

now you know what spare parts to carry on your next run.

BTW. has anyone ever thought of having deplyable 4 inche wheels that sit horizontally and deploy to prevent side damage. tank tread would also come to mind and would be motor or hydralic powered.

I fixed it for you:finger_1:
