: Put up or Shut up (KOH qualifier)
rkjplt1 November 5th, 2009, 10:58 am Not sure if this is the right area, but here goes:
Announcement - November 5, 2009
The Flying Zucchini Brothers of David and Curtis Warner will be travelling the 1700 miles to WE Rock’s Put Up or Shut Up (PUSU) event at Pima Motorsports Park in Tucson, Arizona December 12-13, 2009. The PUSU competition has drawn the team to the event because of its inclusion as a qualifier for the 2010 King of the Hammers race as well as its unique status of ‘run what you brung’. Unlimited and Pro Mod buggies will compete against each other for bragging rights. The event promises to mix rockcrawling with some higher speed rock racing over two days.
The October KORRBC short dirt track race was very unkind to the Flying Zucchini buggy. The rear upper suspension tubing was ripped apart along with blowing apart a hydraulic bumpstop, and exploding a coilover after a particularly aggressive jump by Curtis when vying for second place. The final result was a DNF for the course and a lot of work required to the buggy for the next event. For the PUSU competition the Flying Zucchini buggy will debut new rear Fox coilovers and bump stops with reworked rear suspension tubing and new belly tubing. The buggy rework also identified a cracked transmission housing, so a new Turbo 350 will be installed for the event.
The Flying Zucchini Brothers hope to qualify for the 2010 King of the Hammers race at the PUSU event, but most importantly the team hopes to put on a good show to represent Canada, the Gear Centre, bc4x4.com, Aqualu industries and Evolution Machine.
Watch for a trip report on your favourite website.;)

DaveW December 11th, 2009, 08:38 pm Finally down here in Tuscon. Worth it for the weather. It's 20 degrees C.
Walked the courses a few times and there is some sweet lines. Typical lil'rich lines, but opened up a little more so less tight technical courses and more climbs and speed.
Wish us luck tomorrow and Sunday.

DaveW December 12th, 2009, 04:13 pm Had a good first day. 4th place at the end of the day. We tried to play smart and take only the bonus lines we knew we could do to finish the course in time. I think we are - 72 in points for the day.
Had one hairy part when we came off a huge wall and the throttle pedal bent sideways behind the brake pedal. So natural reaction to brake in that situation also mashed the throttle pedal. Ended up almost DQing by driving onto another course, but got it under control.
fj401ton December 12th, 2009, 04:48 pm awesome day boys, hope you guys qualify tomorrow :beer

Daddy Style December 15th, 2009, 08:17 am That should make all those late nights worth it. Congrats,
DaveW December 15th, 2009, 02:17 pm Definately makes those late nights worth it, problem is it also means we have a ton more until KOH.
We toasted a 5.3 L motor so if anyone has a spare sitting around collecting dust, Curty needs one. Or a LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, 6.0L or other gen III or gen IV chev.
Thanks all. We had a great time. Watch for the event article on bc4x4's website soon.

LOL! Don"t even think about it. Not a chance in any remote universe...:cwm25: Good thing you don't know where my new place is.
I believe someone who will remain nameless has an LS2 taking up space. :poke:
DaveW December 16th, 2009, 07:04 am Curtis was already trying. Lucky for me all the sensors are in different spots on the LS2 so it makes it a PITA to use mine.
Wil December 18th, 2009, 12:34 pm Just got the camera back from Dave....633 pics! I'll start posting some tonight.
Wil December 19th, 2009, 09:07 pm Finally downloaded over 600 pics. Lots of great shots taken by Joey Weber.
