Its presented by Chevron... huh? How does that work? Still can't understand people with their heads in the sand denying global warming.

yeah, chevron indeed. i wouldn't praise them for it, it all comes down to what they think the right business solutions are.
i can't believe when people still mock al gore when it snows in october, the term changed from global warming to climate change for a reason.
glad to hear someone actually watched this.

And if we drive to far we'll fall of the edge of the earth right?

only on sundays after church.
I think climate change is more the correct term. Just look at the extreme weather we get. This summer's heat wave is an example of that.

I welcome the day palm trees start to grow north of the border. How's that for a stand on 'global warming'? LR

I believe we will experience a cooling cycle as we continue to cut our CO2 emmisions but still emit particles in the air that block the sun's energy from reaching the surface of our planet.

Watch the movie, it's a different theory but it has merit. Global cooling just like what happens when a volcano erupts or an asteroid impacts the earth, etc. Block the sun out the earth cools but meanwhile we are giving ourselves the impression things are warming because of emissions. Cut out the emissions and you got a cooling planet.
On a global scale I would say CO2 is increasing but in our region I would say most people are cutting back.:mullet

Cut out the emissions and you got a cooling planet.
i believe it is the other way around as one of the audience members mentions at the end. for example, during 9/11 when all air traffic was grounded the temprature rose several degrees due to the lack of co2 in the atmosphere. so if we cut out all our co2 emissions the temprature would rise significantly, which is mentioned during the geo-engineering portion. we would need machines which shoot clouds into the sky in order to block the sun to cool the atmosphere to slow the ice melt since the temprature would rise if we cut out our co2. and we need to slow ice melt (permafrost) or twice the amount of co2 that is in out atmosphere already will be released.
On a global scale I would say CO2 is increasing but in our region I would say most people are cutting back
that statement seems as valid as pissing in the shallow end of a pool and thinking its piss free for those in the deep end.
seems to be an inevitable problem that we have rapidly increased- ice ages happen naturally- and now its only a matter of slowing down the damage we've done so our childrens children have something to look forward to if anything at this rate. regardless of what happens, it should get interesting. :violin buh bye stupid humans

Like Mr Miller said. It is a complicated issue. The bottom line is that steps will have to be taken to help reverse the effects.
During the question period at the end of the presentation somebody mentioned pollution cooling the earth... from refelecting the suns rays. That is no longer going to be justifiable because climate change has surpassed that.
Personally, I feel that multitudes of options should start to be explored. I have no problem filling my truck using fuels made from algae:D
Awesome link... thanks for sharing

I know this is bringing back an old post but i really just couldn't help myself!
do you all really think that global warming is a cause of mankind? seriously?
so what.. the change of the earth that killed off the dinosaurs was all a cause of them farting too much releasing gases?
give your head a shake people! its a natural cycle of the earth! it warms and it cools - wash rinse repeat!
there is more carbon being released into the atmosphere by burning forests caused my lightning strikes then any thing man is doing!
sure Im not nearsighted I admit what we are doing may not be helping the situation but I for one recognize that the earth has a natural cycle and that "global warming" is BIG business.
Sure Al Gore has some arguments supporting what he's saying but if you believe what he's telling you blindly then you are a bigger idiot then you think, because there is also alot of evidence going against his arguments, and no it is not done by the oil companies.
I could go on but I will stop right there.. because I have made it a point to educate my self on the arguments and sources of both sides.

Global warming / climate change is the new religion for the ecos of the world. They treat everything people say just like those sitting in a pew at a church !
There have been many things comming to lite about the false claims made by the "climate change pushers"
I am looking forward to a time when science not a religios fervour drives this debate.
Until then I do my best not to leave a mess behind for my children , but I am not happy about all the extra taxes that the governments of the world our shoving down our throats in the name of saving our planet !

From what I've gathered, global warming took the place of the Russians sometime around 1991. North americans needed a new fear, and global warming was just perfect.
I wouldn't say we aren't affecting the earth at all, but we're certainly not changing it as much as Al Gore or other environmental fanatics would have us believe. It is for the most part a natural cycle.

seems rather absurd to say since climate change is a natural cycle we should just cross our fingers and hope for the best since it must be out of our control.
heres a rather good article which may debunk your theory.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/climate-change-little-ice-age-medieval-warm-period.htm
another 'guilty' pleasure it seems; mass extinction
http://www.well.com/~davidu/extinction.html
you may find this site reassureing to your cause
http://www.metatech.org/07/ice_age_global_warming.html
i do find several problems with this site- aside from poor grammer and page construction, hard to take seriously- the author neglects our destruction of the natural world in contributing to environmental catastrophy. instead it seems the author is concerned primarily with our own production of co2 rather than the natural systems we have destroyed which sequestered these levels of co2 in our atmosphere. ofcourse co2 is natural, but deforestation and trawling the oceans of life is not and has tragic consequences. look into the drop of phytoplankton in the ocean which produce the majority of the oxygen on the Earth.
i really hope im wrong -but then again i dont- because then that means if i ever decide to have children they probably wont live to see 70 and there is nothing i or anyone else can do to avoid it. i really hope im mistaken.
please add any links or sources which i could look into.
im glad this thread has been readdressed

You people are blind if you think that climate change is a natural cycle. HURRICANES are a natural cycle, they take hot air and replace it with cool air to regulate global temps.. notice how they've been getting more frequent?
Co2 Absorbs heat. Fact. The more Co2 you put in the atmosphere the more heat the atmosphere will absorb and store. FACT. This is not religious debate or debate of any kind.
BURNING COAL RELEASES MILLIONS OF TONS OF Co2. FACT FACT FACT FACT.
Yes natural things release Co2. Natural things absorb Co2 as well... the earth would NATURALLY regulate it's temperature the way it's done for the last however many million years if it wasn't for HUMANS PISSING IN THE POOL..
So what's the earth going to do? It's going to Fix the problem by increasing temperature to the point where all life is wiped out and start over.. there's your natural cycle you obtuse idiots.

I didn't call anyone specifically anything, I just 'spoke out loud'. If you or anyone else falls into the categories set by the things that I've said, and those things happen to be negative.. well maybe I've succeeded in making you (or whomever) re-read what i've said and thing to themselves "wow at least ONE person thinks i'm an idiot for having this point of view, maybe there are more"
I mean, that's what >I< do when someone calls ME an idiot. I say "wow this person feels pretty strongly about this, maybe there is some kind of reason why that is"..And then i'll do a little research or try to see things from their point of view. I may or may not agree after that but that's not part of the point you are making.
That and I just got through reading like 20 posts of people saying that Al Gore is lying about global warming.. That's enough idiocy to make anyone pissed off.
come on people, why are you even listening to what a politician says? he could be right, but those truths are going to be shrouded in all kinds of bull**** i'm sure. Scientists have nothing to gain by reporting anything other than the facts, but if they report untruths they definitely have something to lose.
