Me and a buddy are planning a roadtrip for next year to explore bc and then head up the dalton highway to prudhoe bay, alaska. The plan is to check out some ghost towns throughout bc and possibly the yukon. Does anyone have any must see ghost towns or abandoned mine sites throughout bc and the yukon?
Any help or reading recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
We will be taking my tacoma and a lifted tent trailer which will be getting built up over the next few months.

Is there anywhere you've been already? Where are you starting? There are a few great books on ghost towns in BC, some might be out of print, others are very common.

Keno City/Mayo in the YK is a must see, as is Dawson City. Lots of others out there too. LR

I will be starting in vancouver. Ihavent really done alot of exploring as of yet except on my quad. I wouldnt mind trying to find a way to bring my quads with me and maybe use a truck bed camper or RTT.

a good one is Quesnel Forks and the Bullion pit. thay are around the williams Lake
if ya don't mind taking back roads, all of those are accesible by car.

If you plan to go right up to Prudoe Bay then 1-1.5 weeks is no where near enough time. We did a full loop only going to Dawson City as a side trip one year, then continued on to Fairbanks, Anchorage, and back down the Cassiar Highway, to Stewart. About 7800 kms that trip but spread over a 3 week holiday.
The next time we went to Inuvik, also a 3 week trip. You'll really regret only giving yourself a 1.5 week time frame. There's just way too much to see.
I highly recommend picking p the Mile Post book for the year you plan to do the trip. It's well worth the 40 bucks spent.
We had planned the Prudoe Bay trip a few years ago and had full intentions of taking a month to do that. As it turned out we postponed and only went as far as Dawson City and the Top of the Worl Highway to Tok Alaska.

I just dug out a couple of books on ghost towns and mining operations. One is about boundary country, and another covers other areas of BC. I also have a book on Hedley/Nickel Plate/Mascot mines but I think we all know how to find those places ;)
Let me know if you have any particular spots you were wanting to check out, I think this book has been out of print for a number of years, I can always scan a page for ya. PM me.

we haven't figured out a date yet or booked time off of work but we will be taking 3weeks to go up there just so we can take our time an actually explore around
it might be just before summer or maybe in the middle of summer. still have to do more planning for it
