I got out to the Crowsnest Pass for a few days of wheeling and camping with some friends and I thought I'd share a few photos.

We were heading out Lille which is a well-known ghost town in behind Frank but along the way we swung by the fan house at Maple Leaf mines and drove up the to the spine of the Livingstone range before heading into Lille and finally hitting a little mud on the way out. Enjoy the pics.:beer

On the way down we stopped at the Maple Leaf mines fan house

The entrances to the shafts were blasted shut, but you could still feel the cool stinky air blowing out on your legs

After checking out the sights on the Livingstone we headed into Lille. Heres the Bernard coke ovens.

The entire coke ovens were pre-fabbed in Belgium and the numbers on each brick made for easy re-assembly at Lille.

Looks cool Steve! That's one hell of a big blower, what did it feed? Got to head out that way one of these summers, still haven't rode up to the plane crash.

Wandered through there a little earlier this summer. Stopped and took the mine tour at Bellevue.

Wish I had been able to find out a little more of the area before I came through. Went up The trunk road (hwy 40) to camp for the night.

Then again, things were winding down and there really wasn't the time....

From what I've read the fans were used to force fresh air into the mines, maybe air quality is a problem in the Pass. Let me know when you plan to go to the Pass and if I can't make it I'll give you some detailed info on how to get around. As far as the Plane crash its a nice spot but the trail traffic on weekends can be ridiculous.

Thanks for the plane crash info. Sigh. I wish I could retire right now and just go off exploring all these cool roads and locations.

Thanks Steve, when we do get over that way, it'll probably be during the week. I've found most trails (that are popular) are pretty barren during the week.
