Today the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC added the Kenyon Lake recreation site to our agreement with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and the Arts. The agreement for Kenyon Lake establishes the 4WDABC as a legitimate stakeholder in decisions impacting the East Stave Lake FSR system. Stay tuned as we begin to schedule periodic trail runs in the area in support of our agreement.

Yes, congratulations, Steve. I'd be more excited if I was familiar with Kenyon Lake. Maybe I should go 'wheeling more often.

Might have to take a day off on that run to check it out.

It's up Sylvester road. I went looking for it one day a couple years ago, thought I found it, but later was told I was at Twin Lakes.

Yeah....I'm going to have to go find it now because I have NO IDEA where it actually is. I just know it's about the farthest point on the road system, nobody else's name was on the dotted line and I figured we'd better snap it up while we could!

Last time I was there was a couple years back so I don't if my comments are still valid but...
Kenyon is easy to get to and all gravel road. Doable in 2wd. There wasn't really much area to camp by the lake. I suspect thats why it's less popular than the other lakes in the area.
The road around the back side of Kenyon has some great views. It was grown over and partially blocked by a slide but it worth the trip. Great view of the lake.
I agree with Tmax - lets get a webwheeler trip going :D

Probably the best place in that area, hell, the best place EVER, is Cypress Point right on Stave Lake.
Perhaps the 4WDABC can somehow get the bridge on the road down there rebuilt?

That's been part of the discussion I've been having with MoTSA for the last 4 months....

Well the last time I was there a couple years ago, the bridge had been freshly removed, and the banks on either side were unpassable by man or beast.
Sure one could have gotten over to the other side somehow, then hiked the rest of the way down, but I don't belong to any hiking clubs last I checked.
I do recall down at the parking lot area at the end of that old road, there was some kind of road coming in from the other side I think?

The road that went to the North? I took that way back; it started climbing the mountain and got narrower and narrower and narrower. I did a 50 point turn and bailed, didn't want to have to do a Austin Powers 150 point turn. :laugh
I've heard that some recently drove down there. Shhhhhh.

So whats the verdict? From my pictures in that flickr link I posted up earlier in this thread, was the lake with the little wharf Kenyon or Twin Lakes?

twin lakes are two lakes side by side. you drive by the first one but usually miss it. you can drive right to the second one. they are located around the trails by the gravell pit. kenyon is further up the road and just off the main road. you drive a very short trail to get to it and there is a little island in the middle.
your link didnt work for me. stupid vista crap.

Good to hear Steve.
It's great it is being maintained before it's damaged instead of the other way around.
Kenyon is nice...and it's a bit out of the way so it tends to avoid some of the garbage and problems with the closer ones like Davis.
The road along the upper east bank is fun and it leads to a slide that has a very unique view of the top end of Stave.

Ok, so this is a bit off topic..Does anyone know why twin lakes are closed to fishing? Used to be a fun place to go and to fish.
