yea there different, what transmission are you planning on using?

I have a 88 2.9 with a 5 speed standard. I'm looking to replace with a 4 cyl. Some people say the tranny is a one piece for the 2.3 5 speed manual and others say there's a separate bellhousing :help

it depends on what manual transmission your using, ford used a couple different ones, misubishi ones had a removable bellhousing, and the mazda tranys are not removable. id go with the mazda trans, and if your looking for one thers a couple at pick a part 2wd and 4wd :beer_cheers:
