if i buy a vehicle in the u.s. from someone privately or at a broker do i end up having to pay washington sales tax on it to bring it into canada?

i know that i would have to pay gst, pst, riv $195, fed and prov inspections and then i can insure it. i am just trying to figure out all of the costs of buying a u.s. truck.

does anyone if there would be duty or know how much the duty would be on a late model tacoma? aren't they made in the u.s. as of the mid '90's?

it would be cool if someone that has done this would post up a list of everything that needs to be paid and done to import a vehicle.

no on WA sales tax. yes on pst, gst, riv. no on duty as taco's are US built. anything pre 95.5 pickup is japanese built. duty is 6.5%.

everything is laid out on the riv site, as well as http://www.importcartocanada.info/

i just did this a few months ago...any questions just ask :beer

when you say new taco do you mean 05+? Ive got an 08 that im leasing and its only 300 bucks a month. not too bad for a brand new fully loaded truck. But i guess you can buy them for pretty cheap across the line.
