does anyone have any nifty tricks to getting sticks/dirt from the bead area?
went on a rescue mission in eagle ridge not that long ago and the trail in the trees and it was some pretty sick stuff in there and managed to get between the tire and rim.. its leaking pretty good
any tricks other then taking it in to be dismounted, cleaned and then remounted?

Occasionally you can pull the debris out but you usually have to at least unseat the bead to clean it. LR

- remove tire/wheel
- lay tire/wheel on ground
- pull the schraeder valve to let ALL the air out
- press down on the sidewall, close to the bead to expose unwanted debrit
- use blow gun, canned air or your mouth to blow debrit out of the bead
- have a pick or small screwdriver handy for any large pieces
- work your way around until the whole bead is clean
- re-fill tire to desired pressure
- put tire/wheel back on truck
- repeat as necessary

ya, what Chris said... but quicl trail fixes can be a little simpler... although a good cleaning once or twice a year at your favorite tire-shop can help as i have found that when wood freezes, it expands and lets more air out :(
anyway...
you need 2 big screw drivers or pry bars
roll the vehicle so that teh ofending debris is close tot eh top
let the air out
usse the pry bars, one on either side of the stuff, and pry the sidewall away from the rim..
use compressed air to blow the bebris out or little screw driver..
you can go around the rim like this while scraping and blowing the **** out.. mud and wood and pebbles...
inflate the tire back up to preasure and check for leaks
it is fairly easy and 2 or 3 people make it go faster.. most of the time :)
hope this helps

X2 on what BB says, I like using a garden hose to loosen/ clean the crap out as well.
