will need to upgreade the rad in my YJ soon.. looking for a heavy duty 2 core or 3 core rad from a 6 cyl YJ. the 4 cyl rad i have right now just barely cools the v8..

let me know what ya got and how much $$$ for it.

Thanks. :beer_cheers:

thanks, will keep in mind.. i may need to get a custom unit to cool the v8.. how thick is the rad? i am running a taurus elctric fan and with the 4cyl rad i have only 3/4" clearance at most.

thanks.

Go to your local rad shop and ask for a three core HD radiator from a CJ7 with and AMC 304 engine. Two of the bolts will line-up, you'll have to redrill the other two. Then you can take your taurus fan, trim the edges and it'll pop right into the rad's edging. Voila... no more overheating issues.

BTW, you never shoulda tried to run a v8 with a 4 cyl rad anyways, you've probably fried a few engine components by now if you've overheated a few times.

thanks for the tip on the CJ7 rad, I will look into it soon. so far overheated once, it was only because i forgot to turn on the electric fan after a stop on the trail, its done a good job otherwise and doesnt go past halfway mark on the gauge when in traffic or on the trail provided the fan is on. i am also running a flow kooler hi flow water pump.

The problem is that your pump is running overtimt to compensate for the small rad. In time youu'll see that you'll be going through cooling components alot quicker. Upgrade as soon as you can.
