With all the recent interest in HAM radio, it occured to me that though I suggested forming a 4X4 HAM club via the 4WDABC, I want the rest of the members who are not interested in HAM, and PROSPECTIVE members, that my interest are in making the 4WDABC a well rounded well run organisation. My background is large scale construction management, I will bring those skills to the operation of the Association, to support the members who are versed in other areas of motorised off road use and to give them a structure to work within.
I do not want the 4WDABC to become a top heavy organisation mired in endless bureaucracy, but to be a respected cohesive meaningful organisation that represents ALL... let me repeat that ...ALL forms of offroad activities and back country land users.

John, I've got no issues with what you've been doing so far. I'm glad people like you are stepping up to the plate.

:withstupid: I really appreciate all the work you have done in trying to get those of us who are interested into a course.

Thanks for the support! I havent really done much ...yet...to have a chance to mess it up, it was more to let people know that we are not going to make the 4WDABC just for HAMs or whatever. More to the point that we would like to provide things like radio courses, look at perhaps teaching people who would like to be trail guides, and to be receptive to what the offroad community would like the Assocation to provide. For example, we could look at expanding the number of recreation sites, but that requires more people, to get more people, we need more interests and payback for being a member, so how do we get there from here? One way to do that is to have Amateur radio guys and their trucks provide logistics and support for other group and events, show that we do more than just get our trucks dirty and leave clean campsite behind. Get us out in to the commuity, talk to people, cause lets face it, its only guys like us that see what we do on the trails, but to show the general community what we do, that may feed into hmm, maybe more interest and possibly.. maybe.. new members or support.
So I am open to suggestions or comments, we are looking at ways to improve the communication from the membership to the BoD and vise versa.
