OK watch out for theives looking for ur Catalytic Converter, they are worth big money and easy to steel from under a truck... I had mine stolen today and my truck was park IN MY DRIVE WAY!!!!!:wtf:

I saw the guy under my truck (at about 3pm) and my head went blank, i didnt kno what he was doing, but he quickly got in a Green and Beige Ford Aerostar Mini Van (1986-1997). If you see this van out side ur house go and check what is going on!

I have call the police and ICBC, and am going to get it check out tomorrow.

Thought i should let u guys kno becuz they are REALLY easy to steel from a lifted truck.

How'd they remove it? Handsaw? Reciprocating saw? Magic crack pipe?

I've read about it in the States, supposedly it's bad down there. Toy cats are suppose to be worth a lot.

That really sucks. Mine's welded on so it will be a little difficult to remove mine without alerting me, plus mine is just an empty chamber so they would be pissed once they get it off.

lol, no they just over torqued all the bolts and it fell right out. I got it fix today, $315 later... i tried calling all the scrap yards i could think of, but none had any and i need my truck for tomorrow. so i just went down to Midas, they welded the whole thing up, but im still going to get a bracket weld that to the cat and the frame... or wirer my battery to the cat so when they touch it, they'll get a shock...lol...hmmm......

Smart bastards. I'm fully welded, so I feel a bit better.

Yep. Down in the us toyota cats are getting stolen left right and center. I hear you can get upwards of 150 bucks because of the small amount of platinum in the cat.

Good thing I have a cheapo aftermarket cat :D

Once the crack heads start figuring this out around here being welded or bolted won't matter.

a buddy at work saw this happen to a brand new toyota in chilliwack about a month ago. It was taken during a hockey game.

haha that's funny. I guess we might start seeing a rise in lowrider trends so they can't fit under the truck :cwm30: LR

How about a factory skid plate right below the cat? :)

I know, I know, that will just slow them down. Or they'll steal the whole truck and trash it just for the cat. :shakehead:

Not a bad idea but you do have a good point there. Mine's basically like that (don't know about your Bronc though Chris), with the TTB setup there's 2 xmembers right under the cats (two inline) so it'd be a pain getting mine out. That being said, yeah, they'll prolly just take the whole thing.. But I'd like to hope it'd present itself as enough of a challenge hopefully they will just move on to an easier target. LR

I was told by a scrapper a couple of days ago that most factory cats are going to be worth 40-80. He pays 60-80 for an old factory Toy one, aftermarket cats are only 5 bucks.

Correct me if im wrong - The aftermarket cats don't use platinum like the oem ones.

k I for one know because I do go scrapping usualy about once a month with my Dad, that the cats are worth alot of cash... I also know that if you take your cats into places like Amix or Felix they will rip ya off. There is one guy down around those parts that pays top primo dollars for them... Ive takin some in that have fetched any were from 100 - 250 for just one... The Fn crack heads make it hard for the lil guys to get ahead in the game.. I also know that the after market ones dont have as much radium in them as the older ones... And yeah the toy ones are up there in price but so are certain fords and chevys.. This is why a few years back I stopped scrapping as a full time thing and made it to a once a month thing cause of the fn crackheads.. My suggestion is ta beat the living sh** outa them if you catch em under your truck.. There use ta going ta jail and they aint there for a long time anyway.. If ya beat them like the dogs they are they most liklely wont be back..

Nope happens all over lower mainland

In the last week had my summer tires for my car stolen for the aluminum rims (dug through the pile and left the steel rims)

and my car was broken into and about $400.00 worth of tools gone....
(car was parked at the movies so I guess the knew that had a few hours)

I have to try this crack stuff it must be great to be worth all that
