I'm planning for a trip at the end of May with my Mom, thing is we can't decide where the heck to go. Many places have been suggested, mostly in the States, including New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Orlando, Nashville, Texas, The Maritimes, and somewhere in Mexico have been discussed, but we're still in that "meh..." phase. Suggestions? Oh, and I prefer cheap travel, but not vagrant travel since I'm with Mommy Dearest.

If you want a nice drive, then I would recommend the Oregon Coast down to through northen California to Frisco. It is still off season, so prices shoulod be okay. You can try a few nights camping on the beach. If she wants to shop, then make Frisco your shopping destination and you can make a quick return via I5.

prices vary, but if you want something a little different, check out GAP Adventures, they have all different trips, for all different abilities and comfort zones..

Vegas is super cheap right now.
You and your Mom could catch a Chipendales revue! :redneck

We thought about Vegas too, but I don't know, good shopping I guess but a Chipendales show isn't really up my alley, especially with my mother!

We did the Oregon Coast when I was younger, and I'd like to go somewhere I have never been (which isn't too many places any ways). I don't think this will be a road trip, I'll do that later on in the summer (looking at Whitehorse through Atlin and Telegraph Creek).

Thanks for that GAP site, I like off beat! I'll take a looksee. It's not all back packing is it? I don't think I could talk my Mom into that, she won't do anything too exotic, otherwise I'd already have tickets to Phucket... Boo-urns!

Don't know if I can afford the UK, and when I go I'd like to spend more time then just a week I think. I will go eventually! I have distant family in England and Wales that I'd like to hunt down.

hawaii, you get the foreign feel with still in the US and speak english. you can fly from vancouver to Honolulu in 5 hours. for cheaper stay on the big island around Kona for lots of sun, lots of things to do as well.

If you want relaxing with no thinking go to an all inclusive in Mexico but May will be pretty hot!

I was kidding bout the Chippendales thing.
Not about Vegas.

Just booked a trip in July for 3 nights at the Sahara.
Airfare and accomodation for 2 people for a little less than 600bucks.

There is some good entertainment if you like live shows...or you can rent a car and travel from there on day trips.

...or you could get hammered and spend your life savings. :)

How about St Maarten, it's a little island in the Caribbean, half French and half Dutch, little pricey, but it's supposed to be amazing, plus the airport runway starts at one of the beaches and gives amazing close ups of incoming aircraft

No kidding!!

I might just go to Florida, do Orlando and see Miami. I have a friend there so I can stay with her and save some bucks. But ya, surrounded by American Rednecks... **shudder**
