midway tire can build them for you. if you want top noch chains thogh, try quality chains in surrey. they can build you stuff that makes the v-bar look like crap as long as you are willing to pay the price.

What do you figure a set of 4 chains would cost at midway and at quality chains... just so i dont have a jammer when they quote me a price.

For four I would guess $400....

I think the one set for my 31" tires were around $150 many years ago.

For good quality -Probably 400 plus a corner !

Those are not your average chains when your going 38's etc !

If your looking for low duty see about buying some rig chains used and making them fit you tires !

i dont know how much for 38 size tire, but a set for my 365/80/20 (about 43x16) in a H pattern using 3/8 spiked stock is about $1100 a pair. if you go with regular ladder style and smaller gauge like 5/16 it would be quite a bit less. a pair of V bar in the same size was about $375 a pair.

you have many options but once you see the good stuff, the avrage ones dont look that good anymore. V bar is just high carbon steel. what makes the diffrence is a high nickel content on the purpose built chains. baisically they never wear out.

here is their site. they are not a small outfit.

I had called Midway for pricing for my 33's this past winter, but it was out of my budget. So I bought my set from www.tirechains.com. Got to use them several times so far, and they've been great!

I once just made a set from 3/8 chain.

Worked great for occasional use in mud and deep snow, couldn't go more than 20 km/hr but whoa, nothing stopped me.

For the 150$ in chain it was an incredible bang for the buck!

I just bought a set of vbar from midway for $250 and they rock ! Thick , beefy, easy to put on and they have the V baby! They also make a set called the Texas Longhorn (i think), and they are like the Vbar except they have a one inch spike in the center. Too Crazy for me.

I've been looking at the chains from that site for next season.

Which of their models did you get?

Thanks

I ended up getting the square straight link chains. After doing a bit of research (some good articles on the site), I decided they would suit my needs the best. No complaints so far!
