So India's Tata introduces the ultra-small, ultra-cheap Nano and the world goes crazy:
This is the answer to all the world's troubles!
This will amplify all the world's troubles!
Take your pick.
But don't get your hopes up about buying one: all the media hype utterly fails to mention the Nano does not meet safety or pollution standards for North America or Europe. Altering it to do so would probably put the price right up into the Hyundai range.
Besides which, it'd never sell: history has shown repeated attempts to put such cheap new vehicles on NA roads, and all of them failed. Even the ubiquitous VW Beetle ended up bowing to market pressures; gaining ever-larger engines and more luxury options, eventually becoming the Super Beetle before dying due to the aforementioned safety and pollution requirements.
The Tata Nano: just another pipe dream.
