A friend of mine was given one of these radio's. We were playing with it last night, and the one thing that we can't figure out, is how to program the channels. It has no buttons or anything to do so:

http://chrisb.users.superford.org/Misc/TAD_MD-150.JPG

The display shows 0-40 like a CB radio, but the specs on it are 136.000 - 174.000. I called a place in Prince George, and they hinted that some models are programmed with the cover off, but that is all they would reveal.

Does anybody have a clue hoe to program this radio? :whiteflag:

I'm pretty sure I can program it; I'll check when I get home and will get back to you.

Try here: http://www.tadradio.com/.

I was also looking for a VHF on ebay and saw and edmonton listing for the same radio (gov surplus). He had some manual info on it as well in his listing. Post how it goes, cause it could make a cheaper option for a good VHF.

I saw a few on e-Bay too. From what I have seen of the radio, $50-$100 is to much. :laugh

I will definatley keep you posted.

being a commercial radio your not "supposed" to be able to program it yourself...

That said, google returned.... (use at your own risk....)

Tad M150 Programming Guide.

1) While radio off, press and hold "PRIORITY" button. Then
press "POWER" button.
2) On display there should be "ch_Pr +" to indicate you are in the
programming section.
3) Press "Channel Up" or "Channel Down" to select desired channel to
program (ie: cH-01 – cH-40)
4) Press "Scan" button to access freq #'s (display will be in the
following sequence – "Rx Freq" – "Rx Tone" – "Tx Freq" – "Tx Tone" –
Next channel # (back to front))
5) While in any of the above screen pressing the "Channel Up"
or "Channel Down" will adjust the numbers. Enter the Tx and Rx #'s
ie: Lad 1=154.1000 in both fields.
6) Press "scan" to cycle to the next screen and when the desired
channel is entered just press the "Power" button to shut off and
exit the program mode.
Note! If entering emergency frequencies, only enter the Rx side of
the freq so that you don't accidentally transmit on the emergency
channels.

edit:

If you know nothing about radio's and radio frequencies, I strongly recommend you have someone who has a slight clue guide you through the prompts to at least let you know what areas you need to set and what ones you don't.

Greg, it looks like we have things figured out at this point, but if we have any more questions, I'll get ahold of you. :beer_cheers:

This is just some tinkering which might just lead to me and Indir taking the VHF test. Plus I got to dig out my old scanner too, which I forgot how much fun that thing was to listen to. :redneck
