Does anyone know anything about the lightning peaks mining camp south of cherryville (about 1 hour west of vernon). Been doing some research but not comming up with much.
I know where it is but not what shape anything is in up there. Found part of the pack trail down to the columbia river (now arrow lake) back in the summer but didnt have time to venture up to the mines.
Anyways if anyone knows what im talking about if its worth checking out or if theres nothing there but grizzley bears please let me know!:beer_cheers: would like to plan a trip next year.

Can't help you out with the Lightening Peaks camp, but I'm curious which trail you were on. Columbia river and Arrow lakes (Upper or Lower) are no where near Cherryville or Vernon! Gotta fill me in with the details!

It is south east of cherryville. There are a few claims and they were good producers, but closed long ago.
There is supposed to be an old post office midway between all the mines. They had a pack trail down to the columbia river (which is now the arrow lake after being damed).
I found a prospectors report in which he said the road was in poor shape up there and he didnt attempt it from 1997.
Some of it may be in the Granby park, but I dont htink so. I suppose I need to clarify that before a trip if it ever materializes.:beer_cheers:
