I have a ring and pinion (new, never installed). I don't know what it is for but I have ascertained that it has a 6.14 ratio (43 teeth on the ring and 7 on the pinion) and the the ring is 9 1/4" tall. I think it's for a Ford 9 inch but I am unsure. Does anyone know, or find that ratio familiar. I want to know what it fits and what it is worth as I would like to trade it for some parts and labour on my Yota with a local shop.
Thanks in advance.:help :)

Summit sells 9 inch (6.00 and 6.50 ratio) ring and pinions for about $190 USD. I have no idea what you have. It may not get you much in a trade, as it kind of seems like an oddball.

43 crown teeth & 7 pinion teeth = 6.14:1
If its for a Ford 9", the pinion gear will have a 'pecker' that sticks out the end of the pinion.
All other pinions will be flat at the end of the pinion.
problem you'll have with selling them is that not many front end will accept that steep of a gear ratio.

Doesn't a 14bolt have a pinion support as well?

It definately has a 6.14:1 ratio. I found a few numbers stamped on the r&p. The pinion has this "4087 7-43 USAP7 Y (some symbol that looks like a heart with a flat bottom rather than pointed) 1 X". The ring has "3087 43 7 USA8 Y (that symbol again) 1 X".
I think, that the option that it may be for a Ford 9" has been elimated due to the pinion.

That looks like the symbol for richmond gear stamped in the styrofoam, maybe you could contact them, and give them your part numbers. www.richmondgear.com

yes, but the 14B ring gear would measure 10 1/2"

Take a look at the thickness of that crown. That looks like a ford 9" ring if I've ever seen one...
Pinion sure throws me off though...

We have a winner:

.... looks like what you have is obsolete if it is indeed a Richmond gearset.

None of those on that page match up exactly. The ring gear is most definately 9.25". The bolt holes and the splines match up but the thickness and the size do not. Plus it doesn't show a 6.14:1 ratio for that application. It gets me a little closer but still hasn't quite hit the nail on the head yet.  :help :read

Not much out there with a 13-spline pinion.
The Olds/Pontiac 9.3" C-axle did get extensive use on the drag-strip. You still find the odd GM purist with one under a Nova or Camaro. Seems likely other deeper ratios may have been offered at some point.
