I heard this straight from the horses mouth.
Goodyear will be releasing a 40X13.50 MT/r early in 2003.
These babies are beautiful...

Do you know if this is going to be a 15 inch tire or another 17 inch gizzmo?

The 37" only comes in a 17" rim, so I'd say the same for the 40".
On the plus side, it means more tires for sale for people with smaller tires.

The bfg's only come in 17"
It's a scam why are they making them in 17" now?
Just so you have to buy the expensive tire's and rim's.There seems to be very few sizes in the 17" but thats because there so new.
Is this the new trend before we now it people will be crusin with there 20's:clown :lame

The 17's actually don't look too bad on some rock buggy's .With nice rim's of course.
As long as they don't come out with low pro swamper's.
42 inch rim with 44's

Are there any benifits to 17" rims? You think they won't flet as nice with the reduced sidewall height.

Its called 'streetability'.
If you had 37" tires on 24" wheels, it would handle great.
If you had 37" tires on 12" wheels, it would handle sh!tty.
Someones gotta convince the 'big decision makers' that there is a market for tires that don't handle very well. :D :D

This may be true for MTR's and Mud TA which are intended for heavy street use, however, if the Krawler is to be dedicated offroader/comp tire and as mentioned earlier, they may be even impossible to balance, why not make it a 15 inch rim? They'll be a b!tch on the street anyways.
It is still worth keeping in mind, though; 40-inch tire on 17-inch rim will have as much sidewall as a 38 inch on a 15, which is not too shabby. Me, personally - I'd take a 40 on 15.

I'ld bet the Krawler comes out in a 15"er shortly after it comes out. How could they pass up on the 15" market.
As for the 17" market, they can run HUGE brakes if they wanna, and when aired down at full tire compresion, the axle is still 1" higher than if said vehicle was running 15" wheels.
The biggest dissadvantage to airing down is the loss of ground clearance, running a larger rim retains some hieght while sacrificing a lil sidewall.
for example, if you had 37"x15" aired down to say 8psi, and a 37"x17" aired down to 8psi, they would wheel almost identicaly (traction wise), but the 37"x17" would ride about 1" higher.
