are you talking about converting the rear to coils? it'd require some kind of link setup (ie: 4-link) in order to keep the axle from rotating.

ya i was talking to some guy about the 4 link in the rear today and he said i can make it myself if i know how to weld which i do...lol...sorta...but i have someone with me that knows how to...well i wonder how much it would roughly cost to make one and time?:canadian

what are your reasons for going coils in the rear? a good set of springs/shackles will flex quite nicely.
I'd take those 38's off your hands but I've only got 31's to my name right now and no money to spare just yet. Plus they're bigger than I want to go (35's as well).
good luck, do your research. Check naxja.org

ya i talked to some guy already who i am contacting about my tires he is giving me 35x15x15 tsl sx's for the 38's so there good as gone so far....and i am not converting anymore...i am getting longer springs so that they flex both ways easier..thans of rthe tip though...man so many tires to choose from i already have a set of 35's and now i am trading my 38's for swampers...lovin it!!...lol

atta boy. How much lift do you have in mind? I'm going for 7.5" RE coils up front. Hoping I can get it leveled in the rear by doing a bastard pack with explorer leafs and a longer shackle. Then if 35's rub I'll work on a set of Bushwackers (I hear they break on trees but I'm not that rough and it's the only flare that has the look I like).

****in eh. good to hear another xj build. do what i did: throw some fullwidth axles under your xj from a 78-79 bronco and use the stock radius arms, with one wristed and run some 36's. im only at 7.5 inches in the rear and 8 inches in the front. running 35s i wouldnt bother with the stocker axles . front end components will wear out in no time and youll probably be blowing shafts and gears like nothing if your locked or welded. super easy to do.
the rear 9 inch is pretty much the same spring perch width as the xj, so that bolts right in. you just have to make up some shock mounts , its as simple as welding some bolts to the diff and your done. also you can get a yoke from a van or a car which had a 9 inch and it should have the smaller yoke which your driveshaft u joints will fit right into (trucks use the big yoke).
for the front u can use the stock shock mount on the radius arm, and if you really want to , the stock coil buckets but youll have to make a wedge out of steel so they dont bow forwards. trackbar can be made using an aftermarket frame bracket (or a fabbed one) and some 3/4 inch heims if i remember right and some DOM tube. you can use the stock tie rod, or ream the knuckles out from top down flip the tie rod and run chev 1 ton TRE's, but youll have to make a draglink either way as the stocker isnt adjustable. im makin a trackbar and draglink as we speak for mine. if you want any pics of anything let me know.
for chopping in the rear, people will tell you to not cut the pinch seam but you can, you just have to take the panels off in the rear and make your own inner fender and stretch it across so water doesnt come into the cab. im planning on either comp cutting mine sometime soon or just hacking it up more than it is.

thanks for the tips on the welded rear and ****....ya my rear and front will be locked by the end of the summer so i think i might get dana 44's or something stronger than a 35 and 30...lol...i dont think i want to go with a ford 9 inch though...my buddy has on in his yj ( 9" lift / 35" pro comps)...so i am going with dana 44's and adding some custom fab..like extra support on the back of it etc. ...it'll look f-ing saaaaWEET!!!

why not run a 9 inch? the housing is just steel so you can shave it and truss it super easily, unlike a cast housing which takes special preparation, disk brake swaps are simple , and gears/installations are way cheaper and easier. run a 44 front , that will be good, but for the rear i would run an 8.8 or a 8.25 or a 9". whats your email, ill send you pics of what ive got done
