Try a product sold in Lordco called "Permatex gas tak repair kit" . But before you put this stuff on, you have to make sure the metal is free from any dirt , grease , gas ect.
Its like 6 buxx or somthin.
I dont think JB weld is the way to go.

I used to use Seal All for my gas tank, it had about a 3" long crack where the seam was on the side of the tank and the Seal All would last for months before I had to recoat it.
I now have a new tank though :p

go into your bathroom and grab your bar of soap(if you use soap)
get it wet and rub it into your crack or hole or what ever ,build it up and presto.....:D ....does'nt cost you that much to try it and it does work

The soap trick works great mine has had soap stopping the leak since May long weekend and its just needed a touch up twice. No I am not cheap I just have not designed a better skid plate to prevent this from occuring again,so why put in a n ew tank to put a hole in it.:metoo

Im not sure if doing that would feel great or satisfying in any way, it might be a bit painful don't you think? But on the other hand you never know unless you try!!:D

Well, its a pretty big crack, so I think I'll go get me some seal all.
Thanks for the tips.

supposedly jb weld is so good it could weld an engine block but gasoline as a natural solvent so there wouldn't be a good weld. soap works for a while unless the crack is somewhere where water can spray up or go. Best bet is to pull the tank and get it re tubbed, get a used tank or an aftermkt plastic tank, they aren't too expensive options but comewhere around 200buckaroos

I used JB Weld on the tank of my Cherokee. Just make sure the gas in the tank is lower than the hole, sandblast the area & goop on the JB. This worked exc. & held up to gas tank bashin' in the bush. I've tryed Seal All with good results, but it's harded to use as it's more liquid.

I patched a chain saw gas tank with JB Weld and the gas seeped right through it.:D

I've put back together the fuel fitting on the float bowl of a carb & it held. You just have to make sure that it is dry.
