VW's European-market Polo BlueMotion has been chosen as a finalists for the title of 2007 World Green Car. The winner will be declared on April 5 at the New York International Auto Show. What is significant about the Polo BlueMotion is that it is an affordable car that is competing against much more expensive hybrid cars for that World Green Car title. Hybrids are great if you can afford them or get them, but by utilizing affordable, existing fuel-efficiency techniques with well-known technologies, we think cars like the Polo BlueMotion will have a greater positive impact simply because they stand a better chance of being adopted by the general public.
