What's the most reasonable way to treat some surface rust? The areas of concern are the bottom of both doors and behind the rear wheel on the bottom of the panel. The vehicle is an 88 Cherokee. Thanks for you input in advance.

the was I did it was just sand/wire wheel it down to bare metal, no rust at all, make sure it's smooth (no pits or wire wheel marks, then primer it and get it painted, I've had mine with just primer on it for like 2 months now and it's holding up fine

The best primer to use would be an epoxy.:D :beer

Usually if its the bottom of a door it means it started from the inside. you could be in for a surprise when you start to remove whats on the surface. Remove the flaky stuff with a grinder and wire wheel. Then kill whats left with rust mort or something similar. Clean the area as directed then its your choice of primer, epoxy is good but for fixing small sections i would use zinc oxide.
