I was thinking if it was worth going to the shop to get a wheel alignment or do it my self. If a person goes wheeling most weekends how long would your $40 dollar alignment last? If you did it your self a couple times a year you might be better off. And can you get a decent alignment with just using a tape measure on your front tires.
Then again the cost of mud tires these days I might be better off getting a pro to do it a couple times a year. I hate paying people to do thing for me. Id like to do it myself, if its a wise thing to try.
Any thoughts on this please post.

A wheel alignment does'nt just consist of setting toe, which is what you can set with a tape measure. I would suggest a full alignment if your truck is driving funny or with every new set of tires. After that, setting toe will do just fine.:D

thanks for the help again:) I just put in a new idler arm and one outer tie rod, pasenger side. I thought I had it pretty close to being aligned but after 4wheeling today its out of alignment (the steering wheel is turned to the right a little)and it doesn't like the ruts on the pavement much ether. I do have new ball joints all around 4 months ago. I thought cos I was only playing around with the center link and the tie rod that all I would have to do is adjust the tie rod for toe. I guess I'm wrong.:(

Did you have any trouble doing the ball joints? I have to do mine soon so I can quite correcting the steering every 10 seconds!!

no I didn't change the ball joints in this truck they were the originals so they were riveted in place. I would of had to drill each rivet out. A little more work than id like to do. It didn't cost that much to have them done. But doing them the second time around when there bolted in is much easier.
