If you can hunt , you can hunt with a crossbow but there a regs around a crossbow, pull strength, bolt min. weight etc. Read the book. I am not sure if a crossbow counts for "Bow only"season

you can hunt with a bow or crossbow whenever you are allowed to hunt(open season for whatever animal in the regulations) as long as your bow or crossbow meets all the specs(draw weight, draw length, bolt/arrow length/weight, broadhead size). you can hunt with a bow all season. bow only season just means you cant hunt with a rifle during that time.

thanks for the info, what would be a good crossbow to go with, nothing to expensive but something that is able to do some damage?

I don't think there is a cheap crossbow.

like how cheap? is it just for target? do you want to hunt big game with it?
I dont really like crossbows because they take longer to load than a bow, so what happens if you don't get a good shot with the first bolt? I doubt you'd have time for a second shot with a cross bow. but if you want to go look at some Boorman archery in new west or hub sports in abbotsford have a few.

because when you're hunting you want to do as little dammage as possible. you want the animal to die as quickly and painlessly as possible. what you should have said "...inexpensive but still able to hunt large game with..."

thank you

its your responsibility as an outdoorsman to take down an animal as quickly and in as little pain as possible.

you need to take the core program look in the buy and sell section and use the keyword hunting , there you should find someone offering the program close to where u live its around 100 bucks , after you complete the program you will be issued a hunter number that will allow you to buy tags for different species , i use a barnet revolutin its good for hunting up to about 60 yards it cost me around 650 with the red dot scope i killed a nice mule deer in region 3 with it ,the broad heads do alot of "DAMAGE " for a fast kill myself i really enjoy crossbow hunting, dont let one of thes nut job bow hunters steer you away from crossbows cheers

Hey! nut job? I take offense to that... ok not really, but how is it any different than hunting with a crossbow? other than a bow will be more accurate(longer arrows)I don't think anyone is trying to talk him out of getting a crossbow. I just oreded a new bow(fred bear truth ready to hunt package) from www.huntersfriend.com in the states. they also sell crossbows.

i think he said nut job bow hunters, not all bow hunters. some bow hunters are 100% against cross bows ( and guns for hunting for that matter) i have always wanted to try a cross bow for the bow season too !
