I hope someone can help me out on this ??? I haven't had the chance to confirm this in the field, but this is what I think happens? For example if you have 2 editions of the same map, I.E: NTDB Sheet 074E - BITUMOUNT and the old edition uses NAD 27 and the new edition uses NAD 83, NAD 83 = WGS 84. If I have my GPS set on NAD 27 the grid coordinates it gives will be accurate to the older edition of the map that uses NAD 27 but will be off for a map that has a NAD 83/WGS 84 grid coordinate system? It is not a big deal but I would like to get it straight in my mind.

Yes you are correct. The shift is usually not that much. Up here in the north the shift from 83 to 27 is about 200 m north and 90 m west depending where you are. Depending on the feature you are trying to locate its probably not to big of a deal but if you had to give a co-ordinate if you were lost or something knowing which Nad you are using is important.
