IM expecting my suspension lift kit to arrive pretty soon i ordered it from NSOR it was the cheapest price i could find anywhere. now im looking to find a place to get it installed. i hear alot of people saying stay away from the nsor shop any other suggestions out there?

approx they want 90$/hour and said it takes roughly 9 hours

the truck is a 1 ton dodge.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

not sure of many other lowermainland 4X4 places that would be competent enough to install it. if not nsor, try sport trucks in langley. same company, but they may have better or more competent techs there...

definitely hit up lowriders..or you could try swat 4X4..both of which are in surrey.

NSOR: book it for a day that Doug is installing and it WILL get done right. http://www3.telus.net/cbradley/Smileys/thumbs_up_1.gif

Stay away from NSOR for the install. I agree their prices are good and the guys at the front are good, Doug is good, but I've never been able to get him even when I asked. I've had nothing but trouble everytime one of my machines has gone in there to be worked on. I've never had something come out of that shop done right the first time.

That includes:
1> my first lift, full RE 4.5" kit with adjustable control arms ... bump stops not installed; CV drive shaft, but pinon angle not set (couldn't even drive it 10 feet without the shaft binding like it was going to fall out yet it was called ready). They installed a drop kit for the T-Case to fix that (did i mention i already had a CV shaft)????

2> fuel pump (after trial and error, it was the O2 sensor anyhow) but replaced the pump, jeep pissed gas out the top of the tank where the pump locks in, fixed it by cranking it down extremely tight, new pump only lasted 6 months, new pump again. I specifically asked for Doug to do the work and specifically ask that mechanic (who shall remain nameless) not work on my Jeep, I was on holidays and said it could sit for a week if need be. Had friends pass by that day and say nameless was cranking on my starter like it was a new toy and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start with the new pump. (i've since changed my tank in I had to break off the lock ring on the top of the tank to get the pump out)

3> Just had gears put in my RAM. 1st time I take it home gears whine like a jet taking off, 2nd time I take it home pinion leaking like a siv and no limited slip additive added to the diff so the axle hopped and grabed when turning corners. Have it towed there and told its fine (although remarkably axle hop has stopped). Third time I though it was ok, but just had IWE do my front axle yesterday and check the rear cuz the LS isn't working well ... not even 6 months after NSOR, pinion bearing has discolouration from heat because it was over torqued and the gear pattern was not setup properly.

Buy parts there, never use their shop.

I would have to say Lowriders in Surrey, The owners name is Tod. They have been lowering and lifting cars and trucks for a long time. The prices for there parts are really good aswell. Call them before you pick up your lift, maybe they can beat NSOR

Had an axle built there once. Dude talks a lot, but seemed genuinly conserned about doing a good job. His price was about $65/h, but that was a couple of years ago. I agree with Roon though...do it your self. A truck lift can't be that hard. We did my long arm kit in my driveway over a weekend with basic tools, and a sawzall :welder

One more thing I want to add.....

Any shop can have bad days and do bad work some times. I have been in the Automotive business for a long time now, and have many friends that run or own shops, and I have managed and worked in shops myself. Every single shop on the world has jobs go wrong. What it comes down to is how they fix the problems that do happen. A good shop will stand behind their work, whether it be good or bad.

Hey Guys thanks for the input

Yeah when i was prcing out my liftkit nsor came out to be the cheapest with a price they quoted me online. i called arouna dnd even loriders said that was an awesome deal. but im just sketched out on where to get it installed. id be willing to do it myself but with this busy winter season and all im pretty much working 7 days a week and i dont have the time to giv'r a go on my own.

If i decide to book it with doug am i allowed to stay in the shop at the same time and maybe watch? take pictures? or is it one of those places where id have to leave it there and come back when they call me. i live in richmond and if my trucks there i pretty much have no where to go.

Im going to call T&S suspension around noon-1pm and see what kinda rate they charge etc etc. as well as lowriders to get a rough estimate as to what they are going to be charging me.

any other shops i should be looking at?
thanks guys

I hear you dhoffryn. You as the consumer have every right to be pissed. I don't know all the details in your specific case, but I've been a customer and employee of their's, so I have seen both sides.

Bottom line is that you will either get over it with time, or never shop there again. :)

Oh ya, don't get me wrong. I'll still buy parts there, for the most part their prices are pretty good. Its not the same since you and Jeff left, but Yas is still there. I just won't even chance it with the shop anymore.

yup, nuff said, i bought my lift kit straight from rubicon express, when i got it, took me 2 days to put it in, mind you i was only wrenching on it for about 4 hours a night, (work) but i would much rather bash my knuckles doing it myself than let someone else do it, i wouldnt pay someone 90 bucks a hour to install a lift kit, if they have all the right tools then it should be a breeze, i did mine on my back with the truck on jackstands,

plus if something ****s up then i know how to fix it cause ive had it apart already,

BUT!! if you must have it done by a shop take it to carrier spring, in abbotsford off of king road, they lifted my jimmy when i first bought it, just a cheapo lift but i beat the snot out of that truck and the lift lasted longer than the truck...

For the record in case someone digs this thread up later on .... Al from NSOR credited my account for the cost of the bearings that had to be replaced.

^^ good to know.

i actually miscalculated the install price they quoted me at 6xx.xx amount of dollars i forgot what it was now i have it written down somewhere. i will be booking a time through them basically because i work down the street so its the most convienant and i am requesting doug do the work on my truck and if he is unavailable to do so at the time ill just wait for another day.

I found one thing wierd though Yasu quoted me 44xx.xx amount of dollars for the 6'' superlift for my truck and that was WITHOUT the bilstien shock upgrade. and another 500 for a dual steering stabalizer. where as wil managed to get it for me for 2 thousand bucks plus another 400 for the dual steering stabalizer and that is iwth the upgraded shocks.

another thing NSOR and sport trucks are the same company right? i called both places trying to source the best price out for a lift and they differed +/- 500$ from one another. wieeeeeeeeeeeRD
