Been having some trouble with my cb and i'm trying to determine weather it's the radio or the antenna or maybee somthing else???? When i transmit apparently all anyone hears is a loud annoying beeping of buzzing sound. I can recieve fine but can't send. Only 1 beep for yes or 2 for no. My thoughts are it's probablly the radio but i got both the antenna and radio used and the antenna isn't the newest either. Any help or sugestions would be great. Thanks Gord.

that is really weird... I would say radio. Antenna seems to be picking up the signals and sending them alright, just not sending what it's told to.

My wifes Uniden does the exact oppisite. She can send but recieves buzzing and beeping. Anyway, I know that it's her cb that's acting up because I disconnected here antenna and tried a mag mount antenna just to rule it out.

Thanks guys, i was kinda leaning that way but just wanted to get some other input before going and buying a new one ... speaking of which anyone know of a good buy on a cb? I saw Crappy Tire had a cobra for $89 or something in the last flyer ... thanks again for your help.

Before buying a new radio.. Check the mic... The realistic's(radio shack models) or any radio with a push in mic. conector are bad for this!!...
The connector wears out or the wires get pinched from the bouncing around in the truck, as well, the owner tends to put too much force on the connector when trying to "push" it back in...
The GF's radio has been through three mics in the last 3 years... This is where Ebay can be your Friend... I've picked up mics for just a few dollars at most, or complete radios for $10... Better than new mics for upwards of $50 depending on where you go.

yup, mic #1 culprit, easy fix, get a new mic. #2 culprit is your pre-amp, probably blown if you didn't have your SWR set. People don't think its important to have their CB tuned until they let the smoke out of it ;)

I was just wondering the same thing ... i took a look on ebay and there seems to be a few around. Not too badly proced either, but they do look kinda cheep. I would prefer to keep my money in Canada too if i can help it. So i second that, anybody know where to get a decent one for a decnet price?

radioshack has them, but now its not in the mall in abby n e more(the Source replaced it) I went to the source today and they said they dont carry them n e more.
I also went to Freeway Communications, and Steve said he'd phone me in the next couple days to see how much it would cost to order one in. will keep you updated:read
