Well, any bow hunters? They aren't just for deer you know. I was looking for 1 or 2 people crazy enough to bow hunt some grizzly bears with me up north.

I bow hunt anything I can get an arrow through, i`d like to try bird hunting with a long bow whenever I get good enough, i`m only a compound shooter now.
i`ve got a hoyt trykon and an ultratec along with way too much gear.

yeah , i've spent my fair share of time wandering around in the bush with a bow . . . .
and i'd love to be in on a grizzly hunt , but time , finances , and responsibilities just won't allow it .
sorry , gotta pass .
i've shot small game with a recurve ( grouse ) , but if i ever go out for anything bigger i take a bear compound set at about 55 lbs equipped with kisser , peep , and crosshairs . 30 yards max for me . . . . .

I like shooting other people's bows. Right or left handed, either one for me.
Where is up North? I'd like to be in on that, but i'd rather have a rifle on me in case a situation goes sour on you guys.:beer_cheers:

I got a bow this year. Went out a few times but came back empty handed so far. Work keeps getting in the way.

can't remember where i heard or read this quote :
" hunting with a firearm , when you see your target , the hunt is ending .
hunting with a bow , when you see your target , the hunt is just beginning "
or something like that . . . . i know it is not that simple , and no two hunts are ever the same , and they all have their own challenges to overcome , but it does illustrate the difference between the two pursuits .

Man, I wish I still had my PSE. I would be all over that hunt.
Took moose, caribou, black bear, and several grouse and rabbits. I didn't have any one to hunt with, so I sold it. 65-80lb. draw would be perfect for griz. Wonder how it tastes?
As for a 55lb., no thanks. For deer, blackies, sure. Moose and griz., I'd want more punching power. No need to risk loosing a wounded animal.
Tim...really, really misses his bow.

i`d go grizzly hunting with ya but not in bc, montana and alaska is where its at, I hear the queen charlottes have some decent grizzlies as well.
another reason I won`t hunt grizzlies in bc is because I cant carry a handgun or a short barreled shotgun up there, as far as I know only guides can get a permit, not really into trusting somebody else with my life when its been proven 8 out of 10 people will miss a large target at close range when suprised and if a bear does attack your only gonna get one shot.

IIRC there's no Grizzlies on the Charlottes. Real big black bears there though. I worked out there a fair amount over the past few years.

I'm curious. In your opinion:
Say you killed a moose instantly with a rifle in one shot. Then you killed a similar sized and aged moose with a bow, assuming you got it through both lungs and the heart.
Would the bow moose taste gamier due to adrenalin and horomones being released until it bled out or suffocated?

an arrow will kill as quick or quicker then a bullet, hell a broadhead can do more damage then a bullet.

the adrenalin is not what makes the meat gamey It's the time of year, the rut, what the animal has been eating. I think the rut plays the biggest part in the taste of the meat. earlier in the rut the animals are less gamey because they have been fattening up so they can devote all their time during the rut chasin the ladies.

adrenaline can make meat real crappy if the animal stays alive for a while after the shot, its just like waiting to long to dress it, hell I skin antelope right away or the meat tastes crappy, damn funky oils in the skin.
