FYI I was being a bit tongue in cheek when I wrote that forum description.

Jones is pretty good for fishing. Nothing huge but you can still have some fun with a smaller rod, or a fly rod. Lake fishing will be slowin down real quickly soon though, most of the interior lakes will be frozen within the next month or two. Sturgeon fishing, on the other hand, is AWESOME right now:beer_cheers:

My days off I'm going for coho... If that fails, it'll be trusty ol' trout. Now if I could figure out how to use that flyrod I got recently... :wtf:

Check the regs before fishing Jones. I beleive there is a size limit, or maybe a slot limit.
Sturgeon is hot, hot, hot, and there are tons of chum, and come coho to be had.
As for the secret spot, I always fish....
Tim...sorry, computer crashed.

Where you fishing? We were at the mouth of the Stave last Sunday. Good numbers. I hooked my first 6.5 ft. Got dark, we had to pull anchor and chase it. There were two boats, side by side, we both hooked a fish the same time, same size, and boated them within a minute of each other and about 20 feet from each other.
Hoping to get out on Sunday myself. What are you fishing in?
Tim...would love another 6 ft. fish.

Ill probably put in at mission. Usually fish just above the bridge. Those big ones are always fun eh. No other workout like haulin in a 6 or 7 footer. My dad and i go out in his 24 foot Legend:beer

If this rain keeps up I'm gonna stay home and cast my fishing rod into the sky and see what I get!
Any decent spots in Mission area to get my truck dirty and get some Coho?

I found a hell of a lake outside whistler this year. Head up 99 towards whistler and take a left where the nordic center is being built. follow it upto the security hut and over a small bridge. signs will direct you to three different lakes. head towards Madley lake (Woods Lake). the trout are aggressive and hit on anything from an adams fly to a leech. But go soon because the snow has already started.
Chum fishin is good up Squamish if thats your thing. I have caught a half dozen on the Chekamus ranging from 15-25 pounds. Good times if youre looking for a fighter.

Speaking of in that neck of the woods... There's a cute lake outside Alice Lake in Squamish called "Cat Lake". It's really pretty, and stocked with at least Rainbow (or at least was when I was there last). I caught my first trout there!! Let me live my Lower Mainland life vicariously through you all...
I just bought a new trout rod, I plan to test it out tomorrow. Unless the rumours of a late coho run are true, then I might try for them...
Anyone know if fake worms work as well as the real McCoy? I have my doubts... I hate baiting the hook with live things and feeling the hook tear through the flesh as they wriggle... (it's one of my girl-isms) Then again I could always use lures, but stick with what you know, eh?

coho are late, but looks like more and more are starting to show. worth a shot this weekend. unless the new snow melts in this storm tomorrow, then its trouble.
