Posts in all forums count towards a user's post count.
Users now have reputations. From the manual: "User Reputation in its simplest form is a ranking of your user's benefit to your forum. Its basis comes from the opinions of all of your forum users that choose take part in it. Users gain and lose reputation based on how their posts are scored by other forum participants. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content."
The exact algorithm for reputations is a bit complex and I'm not going to post it here.
In short, the longer you've been here, the more you post, and the more reputation you have, the greater your impact will be if you choose to take away or improve someone else's reputation.
I've activated it because I think it might be useful for the Buy/Sell forums, which is also why post counts in these forums now count towards your total post count.
Board supporters can now upload multiple attachments into a single post.
Board supporters can now have both an Avatar and a Profile photo.
You can do a Quick Reply at the bottom of a thread, as well as include multiple quotes.
New forum: Car Talk
Questions or comments? Let me hear 'em.

Your threads pretty much suck. I'm going to single handedly ruin your reputation. Worked with the girls in high school, so it should work on the interweb forum.
:finger_1: ooo, I like that one.
Ok, I like it. I was tired of single pic posts and tedious multiple quote post process. It's good but I miss the tan/yellow colour scheme.

Me too. Scroll down to the bottom of the page or go to "Edit Options" in your UserCP. You can choose the "BC4x4 Retro" colour scheme that I whipped up today.
Not 100% the same as before, but the ol' tan/brown is there.

Hey Larry,
With the new board is it possible to have quotes from posts in our signatures? I've been trying to make this work without success, but then I'm no computer genius.
Thanks,
Dave

It was possible but I had that featured turned off for Registered users. I've turned it on since you asked, and now your sig is working the way you wanted it to.

Thank you kindly. One should never pass on the opportunity to lay the smack-down on friends.

Furthermore, *ALL* registered users will now have access to Private Messaging, but they'll be restricted to a 5 message limit in their mailbox. Board supporters will get a 200 message limit.
Of course, if bandwidth issues get out of hand, we'll have to re-instate the limitation of PM to Board Supporters only.

when you leave a negative reputation so someone, do they see who left the comments or just the comments?

I think it is anonymous. I haven't tried it yet. I could try on you if you really want to know. :redneck

I aim to please. You've been red-carded.
The problem is, since I'm the administrator, it could be that ALL infractions use my address as the reply-to.

note that your sig was there too, guess we really haven't figured anything out yet. We need a non-admin, non-mod to give a negative reputation and see what it says

I'll give you two more strikes (1 infraction, 1 rep). I'll make the rep positive to balance things out.

From user Test, therefore retutation comments are NOTanonymous as I would have expected (and I have 2 new people that dislike me already :) )
that seriously sucks in my opinion, not that I'm not willing to stand behind my comments, but it makes retribution much more likely.

I agree. I'll see if there's something I can do. Might have to hack more code.

Ok, Raskal, trying give me an infraction. I've altered the code so that the source of the infraction is "Adminstration Robot." I'll post the results after you give me the infraction.

But now trying giving me an infraction.
This english thing giving you a hard time??
p.s. what is an infraction?
lars
November 3rd, 2006, 12:26 pm
Well, an infraction is basically a penalty and if the poster gets another infraction for the same reason within x number of days, bad things can happen (ie: temporary ban from posting). Infractions wear off after a while. The duration of the ban and the wearing off of the infraction depend on how many days I assign for the different infraction types.

You click on this icon: http://bb.bc4x4.com/images/grayscale/buttons/infraction.gif. It occurs to me that I may not have one, though. What the hell, I'll just click on yours.
FYI, once you've given someone's post an infraction, no one else can also give an infraction for that same post. That's a good thing.
Anyway, let us know what your infraction message looks like (ie: who does it list as the sender).
