In yer dreams! It's not worth it now that Blue is not a daily driver. I almost did it 8 years ago, but at the time it was going to take too long to re-coop the $2500 it was going to cost, and as the years have gone by, bla bla bla and here I am still on petrol. :D

My buddy has enough problems with the propane on his Bronco, and he can't get the same distance as the rest of us petrol boyz......... I guess 'm just happy with having gas. :laugh

Ya, he bought the truck like that, and we both think he needs to give it some love and fix a few things.

As for my truck, it is injected, so it isn't quite as simple and in your case.

At least you always have fuel for the BBq! :D

$1.26/L for reg @ 13.5 mpg ..... AAARRRGH!
And the news last night said somebody's done a study and figured out we're paying 27¢/L more than it's worth and we're being gouged.

Gee, ya think? :angry

It took a study? I wonder if the gas tax moneys paid for that.

Why waste time and money on a study when you can just look at the pump prices across the country. :shakehead:

cause they probally got a government grant to do the study.

government likes giving out grants to people doing studies. you just have to make it look like a good idea so they give you the grant

i just picked up a gas 350 truck, iam thinking about keeping it gas, but swapping on a friends good running TBI system computer etc, i have a harness

TBI when done right can get decent gas mileage, plus with alightfoot, will be decent on fuel, 18mpg 20 mpg etc

I've been fueling for 45.9 at the supersave at 56 & the bypass for as long as I've owned my truck

I finally got a little bit of fuel economy this time, its been pretty pathetic and took some tuning of the timing and mixture but I think I might see 10 mpg pretty soon :)

$1.30 pr litre
If you don't like the price of beer you can drink tea, coffee, juice, pop, milk, water ... Gasoline you're stuck with. Some idiot suggested on teh new last night we all take public transit and ride bicycles. Except public transit doesn't go there then, and it's hard to get 4x8 sheets of plywood on a bike or a bus. This price gouging is murder on businesses. For several of the companies I do the highway robbery of fuel costs and ICBC are the major expenses, and totally uncontrolable because there's no viable alternative.
Since Governments make a percentage (and illegally charges GST on the other fuel taxes) they're not going to help. Hmmm.

"Propane ... runnin' around my brain."

"Drivin' that train, high on propane, Casey Jones you better watch your speed"

Just did the math, I get 5.9mpg.

Still though the cost is 18 cents a kilometer, compared to 27 cents a kilometer for my gas truck.

Embrace the six boys

250L fill at 45.9 to auto shutoff is under $100. (200L)

With the six moving 5,000lbs, I'm getting 1200km per tank. Thats all city, no highway. That's 17mpg

Sounds weak, but with 4.10 gearing and a built AOD, works fine. Will pull anything, and still wants to hit OD for 2700rpm at 120km/h, even with a couple thousand pounds in the box. I might build a mild performer, milled head, dual exhaust, minor compression raise...but probably not. Works good enough. Gearing and OD make the truck. Handles towing and a blade fine.

If you're hooked on powerstroking, cummin and duramaxing (sounds obscene) There's no cure. Open your wallet, take it like a man.

Trucks handles surprisingly well, weight balance is excellent. Hard for me not to drive it like a car.. Glad I don't have an understeering 460 slab up there anymore.

I fill my truck once a month. I figure it pays to think outside the box.

I'm also a fan of 351M/400's when built properly, but I wont go back to a V8 now. Too much weight, less room in the bay to work on, less room for my hydraulics and such, more moving parts to wear down than a six.

I'm sure the 300 six is the perfect motor, but I just don't believe its gonna be happy hauling my 1800 lbs of camper and 7000 lbs of trailer up the Crowsnest

So anyone running a dual propane carb setup?? I just got a dual fuel '80 crew cab 4x4 454 4 spd, but am giving serious thought to going propane only. I have 2 complete impco 425 setups to work with, but there's only an impco 300A on it now which seems way too small from what I've read.

Yeah I have exactly that, a pair of 425's on my 460

Well I'm a cummin!!! and paying $.84/L... Getting 16mpg, pushing 7000lbs with 300HP at the wheels and something like 800Lbs-Ft of torque!!! and thats from a six cylinder as well!!!

Add my camper, truck on trailer, and full set of tools for a scale tipping 17,000lbs... Still got 11mpg, and still did 80km/hr up the hope-princeton...
(and I'll probably be towing Dans ass with his propane setup up that same hill this weekend too :finger_1: )

Yeah I pay double what propane is, but I look better doing it!!! Oh, and diesel just sounds a whole lot better... and easier to fill up....

However, if I ever did have a big block gasser (heaven forbid)... I might do a propane setup... gas is just way to much.. and for what the cons of propane over gas are nowadays... the price difference more than makes up for it!!!
