I'm too cheap to pay for a subscription. Here's my build started.
I gotta keep up with Dave. ;)

I don't think it's Dave you are trying to keep up with. It's all the zuks you are afraid of when stepping up on the dyno. :p :laugh

Looks like a good approach. However, I doubt you will get to 3000lb though. Your drive train will weigh in at about 1900 lbs (that is unless you step it up to a LS6/7. Trust me, I've done the weigh/calc on my buggy and it sits at a portly 3650lbs with a 4.3 and d44's, auto, blah blah blah... I could shave a couple hundred if I was serious about competing with it but not 650... Besides, you are going to need a 100lb driveshaft to keep up with everything being upgraded and your rigorous use of the right pedal. :clown

Oh, and the dyno doesn't know how much you weigh, only what you put down. :spam

A man can dream, can't he? :)

The LS1 is only 50 lbs less than the LT1. I'm not sure if the LS6 or 7 is lighter than the LS1 though.

But driveshafts are easy to replace. If that's my weak link I wouldn't mind. :D

I've got to cut out my cowl and take it down to them so they can build the firewall. They already started the tub area. I'll see if I can get some spy pic's if I make it down this week.

I picked up a bunch of issues. I sign some and send them to you. :D
I've spent 2 full days of work cutting old brackets off the frame. It'll be worth it.
Got some pic's of the new Tub. It's just a pile of Aluminum right now.

I might have sold the shafts already. How much of it were you wanting. I've got piles of stock shafts.
Yes I do need my hood narrowed. I need it tapered to a stock grill though. It may be easier to build a hood.

I've got ton's of grinding to do again. Got the gears in with a *cough*welded *cough* carrier for now. Hopefully my shorter long side shaft will be arriving this week from Phil at TDD. Also maybe some super secret high steer arms and tie rod.

Stupid life is getting in the way of jeep building. I'm going to hit it hard for 3 days this week. If it warms up. I was trying to get it rolling before doing the tubing.
I'd like you to weld it if we can work something out.

DaveW
January 15th, 2007, 05:20 pm
Tack it together, put it on a trailer and Sean and I will meet you in Merritt. We'll have it back to you in a week with way better welds than you can even dream about!!!

Looks like good progress to me.

My progress, yeah, theres never been an update to my Jeep.

I think I worked on it for a weekend, as a mockup to see what it would look like,

and its still exactly the same, well, except now the tires are flat

My tires went flat too, so I sold them. I figure if I get new ones that will motivate me even more.:p
Well I did finally get the front diff all welded and ready to go in. I'm just waiting on 1 more RE joint and the shortened axle.

Dan
January 16th, 2007, 11:33 pm
I might have to sell all my tires, and use the money to buy one set of good ones, instead of several sets of marginal or bad tires.

My BajaClaws are in good shape though, I just havent figured out how to balance them yet, they're square enough they bounce the front end of my fullsize truck off the ground.

I've collected a lot of pieces though, my parts I need list is now smaller than the parts I have list

Next I have a whole bunch of output shafts I need to get resplined, and one more adapter to get built, whoohooo I'm gonna get to keep the second transfer case, I hope.

Damn these short wheelbases, I should just build an XJ instead, bwahahahahaha

rkjplt1

It's basically done for now. I just need the shoulder bar and probably and X. I think I'll have to bend the crossbars and move the seat back. I need some .095" tubing though. Maybe a little 1" too.
Yes, I cleaned the inside. The rust is from it riding from Calgary to Vancouver then back home. ;)
I don't think that I will be able to remove the cage from the body. I wanted it very tight to protect it.
BTW, does that thing have a rear driveshaft yet?

Yes, with square wheels, technically I'm flying, because the tires are in the air more than they are on the ground. The braces support the landings and act as bead locks. :p
I take it you can't see them. They are linked to another site and I think it's having problems.

The other sites you're linking from require people to register there before they can view the pictures. The pictures won't show up here for anyone not registered.

You should post the pictures on a free hosting site (like photobucket etc) and link them from there or post the pictures here so people here can see them.
