Well, I had a rather interesting ride from Abby up to Calgary yesterday afternoon and this morning. I got snowed on by Comstock Rd and Surrey Lk Summit pretty good on the Coq, got a bit up in the Rogers Pass, then it really started coming down through Lake Louise and Banff, and I even broke traction for a sec up on Scott Lk Hill about 20 min west of Calgary (highest elevation on the Trans Canada Highway).

Its not that unusual, though, I usually run into the first snow around mid-September, albeit the Farmers Almanac was saying it was supposed to stay nice until October and it has been a really warm year, albeit it has been cooling down quite a bit at night. And I don't even have tire chains on the new truck yet. Apparently I get those some time this week when I get in through Kelowna for some warranty work and I have until October 1st.... So long for summer!!!

Yeah, the connector's pretty snowed in apparently. That pic was snapped early this afternoon climbing the west side of Scott Lake Hill about 20 min west of Calgary. That was the heaviest snow I've encountered yet, albeit I just got off the phone with my dispatcher warning me to stay here in Calgary tonight because the highway's completely ****ed up out there (one of our drivers blew a tire, and the guy who went out from Kal Tire's apparently stranded out there in his 1/2 ton pickup!! Ohhh that ought to be an expensive call-out! His only hope is that he can find our driver and camp out with her until daylight).

Like usual, by tomorrow afternoon they'll have everything back to normal, maybe Sat because it is the first snow fall. Travel should be fine within a couple of days. Cheers

Ummm It could be if you're flying for the Air Force :p

Nope, I was talking about the ever so locally imfamous Scott Lk Hill which would look like nothing more than a small hill along the TCH until you realize that its the highest point on the highway and like the top of the hill at the Mt Lehman interchange, it has its own little microclimate there. Its always ****ed up in the winter time, just to be a pain in our asses..

Fall was here two or three weeks ago. I hear it's going to be another mild winter. Bastards. I heard the same as LR, warm right into Oct/Nov. But it isn't "warm" here. I love it... Cool crisp mornings, the smell of Fall (you know that damp leafy smell?) in the air.
