anyone get nailed for a VI this weekend on west harrison fsr on sat afternoon? bunch of us were out there camping and i was heading to that gas station to get some stuff and there they were, a cop, vehicle inspection officer and a conservation officer, there was a kinda copper colored rubi that was getting looked over when i pulled up, just wondering if hes on the board here and if he got nailed with a VI cause i did in my cherokee for not having my sway bar on and my exhaust had a leak in it, turns out they were sweeping the whole road, from harrison all the way to sloquet hot springs, mabey further, not sure, the cop told me that they were looking for grow ops, drug runners, and stolen vehicles, it was rather busy up there this weekend, cops on quads 8 of them auctually, vi`s fire wardens in boats and in trucks crawling all over the place this weekend, BTW anyone know of a good place to get a VI done

thats great theyre looking for growers smugglers and thieves, but why do they have to harrass people going out there to have fun on weekends with their hard earned money.

We were out doing a Sunrise run. Chatted with each of them as we passed. Explained what we were up to and on we went...

I remember when you had to have a safety inspection every year. They even tested the brakes on a special machine. It turns out I had no rear brakes on my Camero because the previous owner though the brake bleed nipple was a grease fitting.

yea why are they harrasing people for crap like sway bars and exhaust leaks when they are up the for drugs and **** and IMO there a pieces of crap oyut there that scare the **** outta me but because the look like every other car out there they are left alone.......and i know what im talkin bout cause i do like a 100 mechanical inspections(not VIs) a day and the **** scraes me especially since we cant hold unafe vehicles anymore........you wouldnt belive the vehicles out there that have no brakes and other essential ****

yeah forget checking modifed 4x4's out.... chances are if the owner is gonna take it out into the bush and risk his neck driving it out there, its gonna be safe.
i see so many run down old piece of ****, havent seen maintenance in 10 years cars each day that cant drive in a straight line or even stop, but since they dont recreationally enjoy these vehicles it seems to not matter.. WTF

i say lay let the jackasses deal w/ it, or who cares. We all should know what's aight, or not & if in yer the area that says u gotta do this... do it. You have no choice. SUCK IT UP!, jus do it, there's no way around it. Cryin' aint gonna help ya...
I know many ticketed welders (4aprox) i know there work is tight.
and they have been stoped, but none of them have VI's.
So they either like the the trucks, or... they know what there lookin' @.
Sorry yer all on the Coast ( Van etc) Okanagan resident:violin

Cops think they know everything. They do know alot, but not everthing. Although they have the RIGHT to give you a ticket to thier descretion. So If they think they see something wrong or if they want to make something up out of the blue, you will get a ticket.

I got a VI once because the cop said my truck drove down the road crooked.

there was no point in arguing, I went to a shop and was done with it. I didnt even do anything to pass. Im my opinion a lifted truck should have a VI done anyways. Once done it get the boys in blue off you back. Ive never been hasseled since. I was just putting it off till I was caught. Now if I was pulled over again for no reason I would get choked

ahh I understand now, I thought you had already had a VI done, occasionally I read a post here or another board where people get vi`s for no good reason even after having one done previously.

You can pull out of the shop and get another VI at the next stop light. I think that they may be valid for 24 hours at best.

A VI is only 'good' for about 24 hours, not a year. It gives you a years date because thats when your 'supposed' to get another one. Reason being : Say a guy gets a VI for tires sticking out, swaps tires, get the inspection, on with the big tires.

Lots of things can be changed, swapped, moddified in a year, so the decal only states that the vehicle was 'good' at that date.

With the amout of sh!t vehicles out there its no wonder they target big trucks.

No doubt, I dont know how many times I see work trucks (like the old 80's/70's ones) that are missing half of the body due to rust. But what are yah gonna do, Canada law is fuct and they have guns.

yupp nothing pisses me off more than old **** cars driving around with brake lights that dont work, broken turn signals, half the body missing and dragging the muffler around. but a big 4x4 thats well built gets sent in for a vi

cops have seen way too much booty fab on lifted trucks and unsafe 4x4s so they see a beat and built lifted 4x4 then they all over it

i was with my buddy rocco and the cop was checkin his rig out, ask about the steering, starts shacking the tires to check it all, roccos like this is a brand new truck everything is new, lol:beer
